What complications do you see occurring most often after hair transplantation and how do you address them?
Answer:
Generally speaking, hair transplantation involves very few complications. However, there are some individuals in whom the transplanted hairs do not take as well as we would like. This can occur sometimes for health reasons or in individuals who have a vascularity issue of the scalp. We try to make sure the person’s health and scalp conditions are as good as possible before the procedure is done, and a number of other things are done to help promote good hair growth. Scarring is very rare in individuals unless they have a very bad history of keloid scars, which are usually known before the procedure is done. In that case, the follicular unit extraction procedure can be done, which will lessen the chance of a scar from the donor site.
