Lichen planopilaris (LPP) is a very common cicatricial alopecia that presents mainly in females who present with hair loss, along with symptoms such as redness, severe itching, pain or burning. Scaling is very common. The vertex is most commonly affected, but any region of the scalp may be affected and it could be multifocal. It rarely involves other hair-bearing areas.
