Question:
What are some causes of hair loss and can they all be improved with a hair transplant?
Answer:
The vast majority of hair loss, especially in males, is related to genetic predisposition. It is easily taken care of by hair transplantation. Some women have hormonal problems related to their hair loss which can be dealt with both with hair transplant and with endocrinologist consultation to make sure that they are hormonally intact. There are some other more obscure causes of hair loss, alopecia areata and a couple of other things. Some of these are treated with steroids both as injections and oral medication. All patients, before they are given a hair transplant, are evaluated as much as possible to find out both the quality of their health and the cause of their hair loss.
