Question:
Can a patient wear a hair piece after a hair transplant procedure? What do you recommend?
Answer:
The potential problems of wearing a hair piece after a hair transplant is primarily the risk of timely as well as full growth of the transplanted hairs. Those hairpieces that are glued to the scalp or cannot be removed at night and more times are especially occlusive, and seem to be associated with poor hair regrowth in certain (unpredictable) cases.
My standard recommendation- the less hair piece wearing for the first 5 months after a transplant, the better.
