Question:
Is minoxidil ever used in a hair transplant? If so, what exactly does it do and how long should it be used for?
Answer:
Yes, in our office minoxidil is used after a hair transplant to help increase the quality of hair re-growth. Minoxidil works by affecting the vascularity and increasing the chance of a really good transplant take. While minoxidil is not an absolute, because of its relative inexpensiveness it is felt that what improvement it gives in the growth and chance of take of the hair is well worth its use for a number of months after the surgery.
