Question:
Is it true that Propecia works best when you are younger? Should you start taking this as soon as you see signs of hair loss? Will it eventually stop working at some point?
Answer:
Yes, I do believe that patients who can see early signs of hair loss and have a strong family history of genetic hair loss would be better candidates and better suited for starting Propecia right away. The more hair you start with before starting to take Propecia, the more hair there is to save and prevent from falling out. I think that probably the correct method would be to start taking Propecia as soon as signs of hair loss are seen and the patient, in fact, does have a strong family history of genetic hair loss. We currently do not know if at some point over a long period of time after taking Propecia, that the positive effects that you get from the medication will stop occurring.
