Question:
I originally had very bushy eyebrows but have since experienced much thinning with nearly all of the thinning occurring toward the ends of the brows. Would it be possible to remove some of the hairs from the bushier section toward the front and use these for eyebrow transplantation at the ends?
Answer:
This is a procedure I have done very few times, namely the transplanting of eyebrow hair from one part of the eyebrow to a thinner part. The reason is mainly that there is a risk of scarring in the areas where the grafts are removed from and therefore it is not a worthwhile tradeoff.
In general, the best hair for hair transplantation to the eyebrows is the scalp, which only means that the hairs need to be trimmed every week or two but otherwise they provide the most reliable hairs that generally can create the best aesthetic results.
Other hair that can be used, especially in patients with no existing donor hair except on parts of the body, include the hair on the legs and the toes, although these are significantly limited in the amount of hairs that can be obtained.
