Question:
I had a hair transplant about three months ago. Recently I developed some dry skin and flaky skin at the recipient sites. Is this normal? Is there anything that I am supposed to do with it and when should it clear up?
Answer:
It is relatively normal to have a little bit of dryness and flaky skin in the recipient area two to three months following the procedure. The patient can use a medicated Ketoconazole shampoo called Nizoral, either 1% or 2% a few times a week until this condition clears up. However, generally the condition clears up on its own over time, especially once the new hairs start to grow in after three to five months.
