Question:
Can you explain some of the things that cause hair loss and thinning and whether or not they can be treated with hair transplantation?
Answer:
For nearly all patients, in both men and women, the hair loss is due to genetics, also known as pattern hair loss, namely male pattern hair loss and female pattern hair loss. There is also always a genetic component to this hair loss. It can be exacerbated, especially in women, due to other medical conditions such as low thyroid levels, anemia, and poor nutrition. Stress in both men and women can accelerate the rate of hair loss and that can be both physical stress, such as a sickness or high fever, as well as emotional stress.
